Academy Nomination

Students who are residents of Illinois and interested in nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy, or the United States Merchant Marine Academy you may obtain applications online (available at the link provided below).  There is no congressional nomination needed for the Cost Guard Academy.  Candidates must be at least 17 years of age, but not past their 22nd birthday on July 1 of the year they intend to enter the academy. All nomination applications will be reviewed by Senator Burris’s Academy Selection Committee. In addition, to the application form, each potential nominee is required to submit two letters of recommendation, a summary of extracurricular activities, a high school transcript of courses, grades and class rank and SAT/ACT scores.  Submissions should also include a personal statement explaining why you are seeking this nomination and why you want to be commissioned to the academy.  All application and supporting materials must be received in Senator Burris’s Chicago office by Oct.31
